Ford Motor Company has issued two recalls that affect 435,000 vehicles. The first recall is for 2001 to 2004 Escape SUVs due to a corrosion problem. The second recall is for approximately 49,000 Fusions, Escapes, C-Maxs and Lincoln MKZs.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) announced the release of a new international standard that begins to create a global structure for introducing solutions for the fast charging of electronic vehicles (EV). The standard was published in two parts, IEC 61851-23 and IEC 61851-24.

University of Maryland researchers are using the legs of insects as inspiration to create new micro-robots that will be able to travel uneven terrain quickly. The team is also working to have the robots jump and clear obstacles in their way.

USC Viterbi School of Engineering researchers have developed a better-performing and less expensive lithium battery for use in anodes and cathodes. The new design features a silicon anode that is three times more powerful and lasts longer than traditional anodes.

A team of researchers have developed a material that is designed to dissolve when a trigger is stimulated.  The material was created with unique polymer composites and has been tested on transient LED and transistor technology.

Hussong Manufacturing and American Flame have recalled 22 models of gas fireplaces and fireplace inserts that use an American Flame brand main control module. The main control module can allow gas to be released and buildup posing an explosion hazard.
