Ford Issues Two Recalls 435,000 Vehicles

Ford Motor Company has issued two recalls that affect 435,000 vehicles. The first recall is for 2001 to 2004 Escape SUVs due to a corrosion problem. The second recall is for approximately 49,000 Fusions, Escapes, C-Maxs and Lincoln MKZs.

The recall of 386,000 Escape SUVs is due to a corrosion issue that could affect the subframe that may cause the lower control arm to separate and could lead to reduced steering control. The majority of the recalled vehicles are located in 20 states and the District of Columbia where salt is used on roads in winter. The resolve the issue, Ford dealers will install a reinforcement crossbrace.  The second recall affects 48,960 vehicles with seat back frames that do not meet safety standards.
