A new hybrid CPU/GPU computing system will be delivered to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) in 2017. The new supercomputer, named Summit, will allow researchers to focus on the most challenging and influential issues facing science and energy fields. Summit will provide at least five times more performance than the current system, Titan. Combustion science, climate change, energy storage, and nuclear power are a few of the areas researchers will be working in using Summit.
