The Justice Department is reviewing General Motors’ actions in the handling of faulty ignition switches in Chevrolet Cobalt and other models after the company reported 31 accidents and 13 deaths linked with this safety issue. A recall of the affected vehicles was issued in February 2014. 

Researchers at the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen have developed a new method to eliminate noise using laser light to take extreme precision measurements. The method, optomechanics, is a complicated interface between optical radiation and a mechanical movement.

A report published by Pew Research Center and Elon University states that the Internet will increase our awareness of the world but at the same time diminishes individuals’ privacy and allow abusers to gather this personal and private information. The Internet will become implanted into everyday life, just as electricity is today.

A white paper written by Clifford Winston, Searle Freedom Trust Fellow at Brookings and Fred Mannering at Purdue University has suggested self-driving vehicles will help solve the highway traffic and safety issues throughout the United States. Through their research, traffic congestion costs the U.S. economy $100 billion yearly.
