Research Report States U.S. Households Will Include 11 Wi-Fi Devices in 2017

Strategy Analytics has released a new report on “Embedded WLAN (Wi-Fi) CE Devices: Global Market Forecast” stating that 4 billion Wi-Fi consumer devices are currently in use around the world resulting in an average of 7 devices for every Wi-Fi enabled household. The number of Wi-Fi devices is projected to reach over 7 billion globally by 2017.

The research shows that 68% of all consumer devices sold in the U.S. have Wi-Fi capability, while 57% of devices sold globally are Wi-Fi capable.  Several key growth markets included in the report include digital cameras, wireless audio speakers, Smart TVs and DVRs.
