Researchers at Rice University created a flexible material that combines the characteristics of a high-energy battery and high-powered supercapacitor that has potential use in portable, wearable electronics.

DGL Group has recalled approximately 99,000 Vibe USB mobile power bars after receiving six reports of bursting power bars resulting in melted parts, smoking, leaking batteries and fire. The power bars were sold exclusively at Five Below stores from January 2014 to March 2014.

Researchers at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute developed a new rechargeable lithium battery that is completely made of carbon components. Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries, this new battery is made without toxic metal cobalt.
