Army Researchers Testing Robots Inspired by Insects

Army Researchers Testing Robots Inspired by Insects | In Compliance Magazine

U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is testing robotic systems that use visual sensing inspired by insects to navigate through their surroundings. One of the prototype systems being tested uses wide-field vision and high-update rate that will provide researchers with a method to improve 3-D mapping and motion estimations.

These projects will allow the engineers to understand better how soldiers could use the information provided by these robots while working to secure a building from a distance. Researchers from ARL are partnering with researchers from numerous universities across the country.
