The Federal Communications Commission has proposed a plan to make more of the spectrum available for fixed wireless broadband, carrier-grade small cell deployments and general consumer use. The proposed plan, Citizens Broadband Radio Service, has recommended making the 150 MHz spectrum available in the 3.5 GHz band.

Summer Infant has expanded their February 2011 recall of handheld color video monitors because the rechargeable batteries could overheat and rupture, posing a burn hazard to consumers. The company has received 22 reports of batteries overheating and rupturing.

Two different models of electric leaf blowers are being recalled by MTD because the blower’s impeller can break while in use and strike the operator.  The recalls include 134,000 Troy-Bilt model TB180B blowers and 24,000 Remington model RM180B.

A team of researchers from the George Washington University has developed high-performance ultracapacitors that are low cost and could lead to a boost in performance for electric vehicles and portable electronics.
