Robotic Shopping Assistant Launches in California Lowe’s Orchard Supply Hardware Store

Robotic Shopping Assistant | In Compliance Magazine

The Lowe’s Orchard Supply Hardware store in San Jose, CA will be integrating a robot into its salesforce in November 2014. The robotic shopping assistant, known as OSHbots, will greet customers and ask them if they need help. It can also lead customers to where specific items are located in the store.

The five foot tall talking robot uses screens on the front and back that allow customers to video-conference with an in-store sales associate. These screens also will display product advertising. The next phase of the robotic assistant project will allow customers to show the robot a nail or bolt and the robot will produce the part using a 3D printer.
