TÜV Rheinland to Lease Xerox’s EMC Test Facility in Webster N.Y.

TÜV Rheinland has signed an agreement to lease Xerox Corporation’s EMC test facility and will manage the EMC operation located in Webster, N.Y. TÜV Rheinland will provide testing and certification services to Xerox’s and its own clients. Xerox’s test engineers will continue working at the facility and are now TÜV Rheinland employees. The 10,000-square-foot EMC laboratory has a 10-meter semi-anechoic chamber, with a 10-meter diameter turntable to test products up to 32 feet long and weighing up to 20,000 lbs., one of the largest capacity chambers commercially available in North America.

The state-of-the-art, ISO 17025-accredited laboratory provides complete EMC testing services to help electrical product manufacturers achieve global regulatory compliance, including the FCC, ICES and CE EMC requirements. Employing the 10-meter chamber and multiple dedicated test stations, several products can be tested at the same time, increasing productivity and reducing test time. Additionally, the Webster lab offers harmonics and flicker testing capability for high-power, three-phase products up to 63 Amps per phase according to the EN 61000-3-11 and EN 61000-3-12 standards.

“Xerox’s EMC laboratory in Webster is one of the premiere 10-meter chambers in the world,” said Gerhard Lübken, Chief Regional Officer North America at TÜV Rheinland. “The addition of this chamber will benefit our customers by giving them access to the highly advanced testing facilities.”

A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part Two

Maxwell’s Equations are eloquently simple yet excruciatingly complex. Their first statement by James Clerk Maxwell in 1864 heralded the beginning of the age of radio and, one could argue, the age of modern electronics.

Experienced TÜV Rheinland engineers test for global EMC product compliance, performing both emissions and immunity tests on products that range from a small home appliance to large industrial machines. The lab is located in Webster, N.Y. and can be contacted by phone at (315) 569-7524 and by email at info@tuv.com
