The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has released IEC 62228-2:2016 . This standard includes Integrated circuits – EMC evaluation of transceivers – Part 2: LIN transceivers and is now available on the IEC webstore.

Description: “IEC 62228-2:2016 specifies test and measurement methods for EMC evaluation of LIN transceiver ICs under network condition. It defines test configurations, test conditions, test signals, failure criteria, test procedures, test setups, and test boards. It is applicable for standard LIN transceiver ICs and ICs with embedded LIN transceiver and covers:

– the emission of RF disturbances,
– the immunity against RF disturbances,
– the immunity against impulses and
– the immunity against electrostatic discharges (ESD)

A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part One

Solving Maxwell’s Equations for real-life situations, like predicting the RF emissions from a cell tower, requires more mathematical horsepower than any individual mind can muster. These equations don’t give the scientist or engineer just insight, they are literally the answer to everything RF.
