The latest Mercedes-Benz prototype is a luxury lounge on wheels. Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Mercedes parent company Daimler AG, unveiled the F 015 Luxury in Motion at the international Consumer Electronics Show this week. Drivers can simply turn their chairs toward the back, allowing the steering wheel to automatically tuck itself out of the way while the car self-steers at speeds as fast as 75 miles per hour.
The self-driving vehicle has a clean design featuring hardwood, leather, and suicide doors that reveal an expansive interior. The car is controlled through touch screens located on passenger doors as well as simple hand gesture recognition and eye movement tracking.
The car is growing beyond its role as a mere means of transport and will ultimately become a mobile living space.
