Rechargeable Battery Modules Being Developed for Electric Cars

Rechargeable EV Battery Modules | In Compliance Magazine

University of California, San Diego researchers developed algorithms that will allow owners of electric vehicles to switch out battery modules to be able to recharge them. The algorithms developed provide charge estimation and current control and is part of each module’s battery management system.

The algorithms will provide information on charge levels, chemistry, age, and condition to keep the modules working together uniformly.  The researchers will be testing their method using a converted 2002 four door Volkswagen Golf by driving across the country to test their theory.

A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part One

Solving Maxwell’s Equations for real-life situations, like predicting the RF emissions from a cell tower, requires more mathematical horsepower than any individual mind can muster. These equations don’t give the scientist or engineer just insight, they are literally the answer to everything RF.

Read more about the challenges and future development the team will be working on.
