Summer Infant has expanded their February 2011 recall of handheld color video monitors because the rechargeable batteries could overheat and rupture, posing a burn hazard to consumers. The company has received 22 reports of batteries overheating and rupturing.
Approximately 800,000 batteries are included in the recall. They are 1 ½ inches tall, 2 ¼ inches wide and ¼ inch thick and are marked with TCL on the lower right corner of the battery. Consumers should remove recalled batteries from the unit and contact the company for a replacement battery. The monitor can be used with the A/C adaptor.
