FCC Continues Push to Electronic Filing

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is moving ahead with its efforts to transition all Commission-related paper filings to the Cloud!

In a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) issued in early September, the Commission puts forth its plan to make all filings to the FCC’s Universal Licensing System (ULS) completely electronic and to expand electronic filing and correspondence elements for all related systems. The FCC would also require applicants to provide an email address on all FCC forms and correspondence to facilitate electronic filings and communications between parties.

The FCC estimates that it received approximately 5000 manually filed applications out of more than 400,000 filings made in 2018.

How to Perform a Radiated Emissions Measurement

Radiated emissions testing is the measurement of the electromagnetic field of the emissions that are unintentionally being generated by the equipment under test.

The FCC says that its proposed changes would “facilitate the remaining steps to transition these systems from paper to electronic, reducing regulatory burdens and environmental waste, and making interaction with these systems more accessible and efficient for those who rely on them.”

The Commission is seeking comments on the proposals outlined in the NPRM. Comments can be filed via the Commission’s Electronic Filing System at www.fcc.gov/ecfs through early October.
