Woman Controls Fighter Jet Simulator with her Thoughts

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) announced that a paralyzed woman controlled an F-35 flight simulator without ever touching the joystick.  Jan Scheuermann, a quadriplegic woman, had previously used DARPA’s system to control a robotic arm to manipulate objects, as part of DARPA’s initiative to improve prostheses. Her thoughts were processed to the simulator by a small sensor embedded in her left cortex. Two years into the project, they reprogrammed the neuronal wiring to allow her to control a flight simulator with her mind.
