Wireless Health Monitoring Demonstrated Using Stick-on Electronic Patches

A team of engineers have shown the capabilities of a stick-on patch including commercial, off-the-shelf chip-based electronics is advancing health monitoring wirelessly and could transform clinical monitoring.

The team comprised of engineers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Northwestern University developed these patches that are similar to how temporary tattoos stick to the skin. These patches feature a unique construction that allows the patch to move, bend and flex without being restricted by the components. The patches wirelessly transmit information related to everyday health monitoring and would provide more comfortable monitoring for patients.
