Winnebego Recalls Motor Homes Because of Defective Ignition Switches

WinnebagoWinnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Winnebago Travato, Trend, and Itasca Viva! motor homes because they have an ignition switch that may experience an intermittent loss of electrical contact. This loss of contact may increase the risk of a crash, while also increasing the risk of injury if a crash occurs, because it can prevent certain safety systems from working properly.

The defective ignition switch, made by ProMaster, can make the  vehicle stall, or cause a partial or complete loss of the air bags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control and the instrument panel cluster. FCA US (Chrysler), manufacturer of the motorhome chassis, will notify owners, and Chrysler dealers will replace the ignition switch contact holder block, at no cost. Replacement parts are not yet available. A total of 359 vehicles are included in this recall, which was triggered by a customer contacting Winnebago in January 2016 to ask if their motorhome was affected by the ProMaster recall.
