University of Tennessee’s College of Engineering Celebrates 175th Anniversary

2013 marks the 175th year of engineering at the University of Tennessee, and the College of Engineering is marking the anniversary with a series of events that includes a gala and dedication of the John D. Tickle Engineering Building on Friday, October 4th.

The College of Engineering is UT’s fastest-growing and offers more than 350 undergraduate and 500 graduate courses in engineering. Since 2007, undergraduate enrollment has increased by 40 percent, doctoral enrollment by more than 60 percent. The college is producing 20 percent more graduates than five years ago. In addition, research funding has grown by 74 percent in the past five years to $56.8 million.

Since 2009, the college has added 10 new Governor’s Chairs, eight endowed fellowships and professorships, and one endowed chair.
