Two Working Groups Formed by IEEE to Standardize Electronic Design Automation

IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) has formed two working groups that focus on mixed-signal language extensions and interoperability of large scale integration, package and board design. The goal of these two working groups is to standardize the stages of electronic design automation.

IEEE P1666.1™ SystemC Analog/Mixed-Signal (AMS) Extensions Working Group will allow SystemC to capture both analog and digital design content. The core standard, IEEE 1666™-2011, specifies the high-level design and modeling language for digital electronics.

IEEE P2401™ LPB – Standard Format for Large Scale Integration (LSI)-Package-Board Interoperable Design Working Group will work towards standardizing the data exchange format of components that make up a hardware system – integrated circuit, package and board. The development of this format will increase the speed of design information between the three components, ultimately increasing the system design at a reduced cost.

Both working groups are seeking individuals to participate in the development of the standards.
