A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part One

Solving Maxwell’s Equations for real-life situations, like predicting the RF emissions from a cell tower, requires more mathematical horsepower than any individual mind can muster. These equations don’t give the scientist or engineer just insight, they are literally the answer to everything RF.

The new facility is twice as large, 30,000 sq/ft, allowing for new test equipment and greater efficiency. The staff is being expanded to man additional test stations and cover expanded shift work.

Ten additional thermal chambers were added, which include a combination of thermal shock, drive-in and reach-in configurations.  Six new corrosion / erosion radiator stands were custom built as well as a proprietary 4-poster test rig for automobiles, which can be utilized for short term projects by automobile manufacturers and component manufacturers to correct buzz, squeak and rattle issues.

One of the most unique capabilities for the Detroit Metro area is a new 4” electrodynamic shaker, capable of 28k lbf sine, 19.7k lbf random, and 56k lbf mechanical shock tests.

“We are excited about the expansion of our testing services at this facility.  TÜV SÜD is aggressively looking at ways to increase capacity in the transportation sector and this investment will improve our service delivery to the Automotive, Aerospace, Rail, and Military industries” states Darryl Flager, Global Business Line Manager, TÜV SÜD Canada.

In addition to expanding our vehicle test capabilities, the playground equipment group is being re-located from the Plymouth facility to Auburn Hills, offering IPEMA certification on public play equipment and public play surfacing materials.
