TÜV SÜD America Expands Automotive EMC Testing Capabilities

TÜV SÜD America is pleased to announce the expansion of their automotive EMC laboratory with the opening of an additional 3-meter chamber for immunity and emission testing along with expanded conducted immunity capacity and capabilities.

The electronic technology being incorporated into automobiles is becoming increasingly complex and greater in volume. This facility doubles our capacity to meet supplier timing and testing needs from engineering development to design validation to product validation. “This facility has expanded TÜV SÜD’s ability to provide RF immunity and emissions testing to a wide range of automotive industry standards,” said Steve English, EMC Testing Manager for TÜV SÜD.

Mr. English further elaborated, “The additional investment in this facility will allow us to improve our test timing and response to customer demand for more development testing, particularly on larger test systems such as HV batteries and related control electronics.”

Mastering High Voltage: The Importance of Accurate Test Equipment

This whitepaper underscores that precise calibration of high-voltage test gear — especially when measuring 1 kV–150 kV systems — is essential for safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. It details measurement techniques (voltage dividers, step-down transformers, etc.), the impact of environmental and connection factors on accuracy, and why traceable calibration (e.g. to NIST / A2LA) is a must to ensure consistent, reliable results.

TÜV SÜD America also offers EMC testing in California and Minnesota.  Additionally, we provide testing and certification for a variety of commercial and electrical products on a local, regional and global level.  These services help customers provide safe and dependable products to international markets in many industries, including automotive, consumer products, food service, furniture, household appliances, industrial machinery, IT, lighting, medical devices, retail, telecom/radio, and wireless equipment.
