TÜV SÜD America Acquires First IFI S31-500-900P Amplifier for 600V/m Radar Pulse Radiated Immunity Testing

TÜV SÜD America Inc. (TÜV SÜD) is the first testing organization to purchase the newly designed S31-500-900P solid-state pulse amplifier from Instruments for Industry (IFI), a unit of AMETEK Compliance Test Solutions. With the trend in the industry moving towards the free field method, this unique and efficient test system allows TÜV SÜD to provide customers at the Plymouth, MI EMC lab with a new option. Customers in need of 600V/m radar pulse radiated immunity testing in the 0.8 – 3.1 GHz band, the preferred requirement of many automotive OEM’s, can count on TÜV SÜD for a solution.

This new amplifier has a 500W continuous rating along with the capability to deliver more than 900W in peak mode. It is the ideal solution for labs that need to generate the 600V/m radar pulse radiated immunity tests, and also addresses other continuous field test requirements. The amplifier’s peak power rating allows it to generate the 600V/m test with either high gain narrow band antennas or a single wide band antenna. When used with narrow band antennas, the amplifier has sufficient power to allow over-testing for increased confidence or with a greater coverage of the equipment under test to reduce test time.

“TÜV SÜD America is constantly looking to improve our capabilities and equipment, positioning us as a market leader in automotive test solutions” states Mr. Steve English, Automotive EMC Lab Manager. “This new amplifier allows us to provide a solution that our customers and OEM’s have been requesting.”
