TÜV Rheinland’s ZigBee Test Tool Shortlisted for Smart Metering Award

TÜV Rheinland’s ZigBee® test harness tool has been shortlisted as Innovation of the Year in the European Smart Metering Awards 2014, which recognize excellence in smart metering and acknowledge those who play a defining role in moving the industry forward. A panel of utilities and smart metering experts assesses and reviews all award entries, selecting finalists for excellence in engineering and marketing.

The company’s test tool allows manufacturers of ZigBee devices to pre-test and de-bug their products in the development phase prior to submitting the items for certification. This ensures the product passes the third-party testing the first time, minimizing the possibility of failure and the need for fine-tuning the device to comply with the standard, reducing costs and speeding time to market. The test harness is capable of running automatic scripts for interoperability, compliance and functionality of various ZigBee devices. It has built-in automatic tests for most every ZigBee cluster, including Smart Energy, Building Automation, Home Automation, Health, Remote Control (RF4CE), and Light Link, which is gaining popularity everywhere around the globe with LED technology.
