TÜV Rheinland is the top certificate issuing body in the CB Scheme for the eighth consecutive year, according to a 2012 report published by the Worldwide System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE). The company placed first in terms of the total number of product certificates issued: 14,440, representing 19% of all certificates. TÜV Rheinland placed second in the following certification categories: IT and office equipment (OFF), battery (BATT), household and similar appliances (HOUSE), and audio-video (AV).
In 2012, the largest number of CB Scheme applications was filed by China, seven times that of the US, which took the second place. Member nations within the CB system comprise all of the major export markets for the US products, including Japan, Western Europe, Northern Europe, Poland, Russia, ASEAN, South Africa, South America, China, Australia and New Zealand. A CB scheme certificate and test report are key elements needed to obtain access to world-wide markets.
