Tractor Trailers Recalled Because of Electrical Short

tractor trailerKalmar Solutions is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Ottawa T2 trucks because a couple of manufacturing problems with a chassis power board can cause an electrical short which poses a fire risk.  A NHTSA announcement states:

The affected vehicles are equipped with a chassis power board that is not protected from moisture. Additionally, the bolts that mount the chassis power board may rub against the circuit board and cause an electrical short.

The problem was first discovered on January 15, 2016, when a dealer reported that the chassis power board on one of the trucks had caught on fire. The vehicle manufacturer is still investigating a solution and plans to repair the trucks for free.
