TIA Applauds FCC Establishment of the Disability Advisory

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) recognized December 3 as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and applauded the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on the recent announcement of its plan to establish a new federal Disability Advisory Committee (DAC).  The DAC will serve as a useful mechanism to facilitate ongoing conversation between all stakeholders on issues of accessible use and access to telecommunications technology.   This is particularly timely in light of this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities theme of “Sustainable Development:  The Promise of Technology.” TIA and its member companies look forward to working with the FCC and disability advocates through the DAC to continue addressing remaining challenges to disability access to technology.
