Text-to-911 Implementation Plan Set by FCC

The Federal Communications Commission has encouraged all wireless providers to begin implementing text-to-911 to ensure Americans will be able text 911 in the case of an emergency by the end of 2014.

The FCC has asked for additional comments on these regulatory proposals where 911 call centers can receive texts and to also continue the core value of having access to 911 as technology changes.  Reports have found that 91% of American adults own a mobile phone and 81% of those owners use text messaging.
