Text Message Sent Using Vodka

University of Warwick in the UK and the York University in Canada scientists have developed a molecular communications system for sending messages and data in difficult environments like tunnels, pipelines, underwater and inside the body. They were to develop the capability to turn a generic message into binary signals.

The message was then turned into a binary signal, programmed into evaporated alcohol modules  – like vodka – and used to demonstrate molecular communication. While this method will not replace electromagnetic waves in the modern world, there are some applications where communications systems are not as advanced or allow for this type of transmission.
