In this article, the author will identify two major types of single-conductor structure resonances and describe some case studies for both. He will then describe how design projects can quickly and easily be ‘de-risked’ from the possibilities of suffering either type of resonance by the use of low-cost field and circuit simulators and/or low-cost bench testing on physical ‘mock-ups’.

When measuring signals in electronic circuits some times what you see on the screen is not what you have in the circuit. Parasitic couplings, mismatching, noise pickup, and many other anomalous effects can give you the wrong picture of your problem.

This article discusses CMOS inverter switching and shows the impact of a decoupling capacitor on the power rail signal integrity and radiated emissions.

When designing EMI filters how and where the filter is installed is critical to obtain the desired insertion losses. Usually, the effect of a wrong location or installation is not considered in the design of the filter and surprises appear.

This article presents the results of experiments to measure the effectiveness of lossy material in reducing RF emissions from perforated air vents such as those commonly used on computer enclosures. The results show good performance compared to those with conventional metal vents.
