Telcordia is proposing to write a new Special Report (SR) that would provide more detailed guidance on how they and the following documents can best interact:
- GR-63-CORE, NEBS™ Requirements: Physical Protection
- GR-487-CORE, Generic Requirements for Electronic Equipment Cabinets
- GR-950-CORE, Generic Requirements for Optical Network Unit (ONU) Closures and ONU Systems
- GR-1089-CORE, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electrical Safety — Generic Criteria for Network Telecommunications Equipment
- GR-3108-CORE, Generic Requirements for Network Equipment in the Outside Plant (OSP)
- GR-3171-CORE, Generic Requirements for Network Elements Used in Wireless Networks Physical Layer Criteria
- GR-13-CORE, Generic Requirements for Pedestal Terminal Closures
- GR-937-CORE, Generic Requirements for Outdoor and Indoor Building Entrance Terminals (BETs).
Because GR-3108 electronic equipment can be placed in a wide range of closures, structures and applications, the objective of this new SR would be to provide detailed guidance on determining the most appropriate test program combination of GR-3108 equipment criteria with applicable closure/structure criteria (e.g., a GR-487 cabinet).
This new SR will lead you through the steps to determine what is needed. It will provide the testing and engineering rationale for the combined test program to help develop more consistent applications of closure GRs (GR-487, GR-950, etc.) with the equipment in GR-3108. The intent is to also help users and suppliers design efficient test programs that minimize cost while maintaining product standards that best match the application use and environment.
