Spectrum Sharing “Model City” Being Considered by NTIA and FCC’s Office Engineering and Technology

The National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA) and the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) have issued a Joint Public Notice to request comments on the development of a “model city” to test and evaluate techniques that would make more spectrum available for commercial mobile broadband applications.

IEEE 802.11af™ Revision Will Allow Access to Geolocation Database Previously Unavailable, Unused or Underused Frequencies

The IEEE has announced the release of the IEEE 802.11af™-2013 amendment, which allows regulators a new tool to add to their spectrum-sharing toolbox. The revision has created a global standard allowing worldwide users to utilize unused or underused RF spectrum based on location and time of day.
