Vanderbilt University School of Engineering Opens New Laboratory

The School of Engineering at Vanderbilt University recently had a grand opening for their new Laboratory for Systems Integrity and Reliability (LASIR). The 20,000 square foot facility will allow researchers to validate theories and models for security, energy, and manufacturing projects.  

Micro-Windmills Could Power Mobile Phones

UT Arlington researchers have developed wind turbines that are half the size of an ant. These micro-windmills are made from a small fragment of metal that is mounted on a rectangular base, and has three blades.

ARPA-E Funded Projects to Research Liquid Battery Electrodes

Several projects are being funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Energy (ARPA-E) for the development and research of using liquid battery electrodes that reduce costs while increasing energy density. These new batteries have the ability to be recharged or replaced with new fuel.
