First Commercial Drone Approved to Fly Over U.S. Land

The first commercial drone was given permission to fly over U.S. land by The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday, June 10^th. The AeroVironment manufactured drone will be operated by BP to fly over the North Slope in Alaska.

Six States Selected as Drone Research Test Sites

Alaska, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Texas and Virginia were selected as locations to develop test sites for drones. These states were selected due to their climate, geography and air traffic environments.
