StrikeMaster Ice Augers Recalled due to Injury Hazard

ice-augerRapala recalls StrikeMaster® Lithium Lazer ™ Ice Augers because the trigger switch on the auger could fail, posing an injury hazard because the unit will not turn off. There have not been any reports of incidents or injuries.

The ice auger is used by ice fisherman to cut holes in ice to access the water and fish below. It is a 24-pound black and red unit powered by an electric motor and a rechargeable 50-volt lithium ion battery. See the photo above for additional identifying features. The ice augers were sold at sporting goods stores in the U.S. and Canada from September 2014 through January 2015 for about $600.LL_Lithium-Lazer-1-MB_800

Consumers should return the augers to the place where they were purchased for a full refund, or return them to Rapala for either a full refund or a $700 credit toward a new product.
