State-of-the-Art Research Facility Opens at University of Michigan | In Compliance Magazine

Last week the Center of Excellence in Nano Mechanical Science and Engineering opened on the North Campus at the University of Michigan. The 62,880-square-foot facility features three different laboratories to research and advance nanotechnologies in energy, manufacturing, healthcare, and biotechnology.

The top floor of the facility features a “breaker space” in the Materials and Mechanics Lab, where researchers can observe the degradation of a variety of materials used in automotive applications and medical devices. The next floor houses the Microbioengineering Lab and offers facilities to grow living cells for cancer research and advances in medical devices. The Nanoengineering Lab, located on the ground floor, contains ultra-low vibration chambers for shake, noise, temperature, humidity and interference testing.
