South Korean StarCraft Player Recognized by U.S. As An Athlete

The U.S. has issued a special visa reserved for baseball players and other athletics to professional StarCraft II player Kim Dong-hwan. The South Korean was granted a five-year P-1A visa last week that is usually reserved for internationally recognized athletes.

Kim has been traveling between both countries for the last three years under a visa waiver to compete in live matches. Twitch and Blizzard Entertainment, a gaming media site and the company behind StarCraft, wrote recommendation letters to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for Kim after his request for a student visa was denied.
