Sony VAIO Flip PC Laptops Recalled

A recall has been issued for Sony VAIO Flip PC laptops due to the possibility that the lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard. The company is aware of four incidents of the computers overheating, resulting in them smoking, catching on fire and melting.

The laptops were sold in silver, black or pink, have a folding touch screen measuring 11.6 inches diagonally, and a backlit keyboard. The model number, SVF11N13CXS, and serial numbers are printed on a black label on the underside of the screen. Recalled laptops were sold in retail stores nationwide and online from February 2014 to April 2014. Consumers with recalled laptops should immediately stop using the computer, unplug it and contact Sony to arrange a free inspection, repair or refund of the purchase price.
