Solar-Powered Battery Defect Prompts Recall of Eagle Travel Trailers

JaycoJayco, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016 Eagle Half Ton fifth wheels and Eagle travel trailers because the wiring that connects the solar panels to a battery lacks circuit protection. This could produce a melted wire or fire if the wire gets shorted to ground. According to a NHTSA report, the problem was a production error, caused by line workers who did not follow the correct installation procedure.

The wiring from the battery box to the roof mount solar prep does not have the proper circuit protection. Without the proper protection of the wiring, the wiring could melt or short to ground and produce a fire in the vehicle, causing injury to occupants or property damage.
