The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has proposed to modify a 2008 regulation for the form and contents of certificates of compliance for consumer goods, otherwise known as “GCCs”. These proposed requirement changes will affect every manufacturer, importer and private labeler of consumer products subject to a CPSC safety rule.
The proposed change will update the rule to clarify requirements in light of new regulations on testing and labeling pertaining to product certification and component part testing. Another change will move the burden and obligation for certifying privately labeled products manufactured in the US from the manufacturer to the private labeler.
Detailed information can be found in the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking.
