Shark Vacuum Cleaners Recalled due to Shock Hazard

NV650W-NV652 photoLARGEEuro-Pro is recalling their Shark upright vacuum cleaners because the aluminum wand can disconnect from the vacuum cleaner’s handle and remain energized with electricity, posing a risk of electrical shock. There have been 62 reports of incidents in which the wand disconnected from the vacuum cleaner’s handle. No injuries have been reported.

About 142,000 units in the United States and about 650 in Canada are recalled. The vacuum cleaners are maroon or purple, with a clear plastic middle section and Shark and Rotator printed on the front. They are about 45 inches tall and 12 inches wide. The recall includes models NV650W, NV651, NV652 and NV660 of Shark® brand Rotator® Powered Lift-Away® series upright vacuum cleaners. The model number is printed on a silver sticker in the upper right-hand corner of the back of the unit.

The vacuum cleaners were sold Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Lowes, Target and other stores nationwide, online at www.sharkclean.com and through television infomercials from August 2014 through March 2015 for between $250 and $350. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vacuum cleaners and contact Euro-Pro for a free replacement wand.
