Mark McClear, a veteran semiconductor and electronic materials executive, accustomed to innovation and fast-paced growth, has been appointed chief operating officer at Phononic.
McClear comes to Phononic from Cree, Inc., where he was vice president of Worldwide Sales, and was part of the management team that built the LED unit into a multi-hundred million dollar business in six years. Fast Company named Cree as one of the 50 most innovative companies in 2015. Previously, McClear held business and technical leadership positions at companies including Texas Instruments, Praxair and The Dow Chemical Company.

McClear is also an active member of several for-profit and non-profit boards. He has a strong interest in entrepreneurship and currently serves as Business Mentor for the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED). He has 18 issued and published U.S. patents and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University.
