The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and PepsiCo have announced the launch of the second annual PepsiCo/SWE Student Engineering Challenge. This competition invites students to develop ideas that will improve trade quality and increase productivity of PepsiCo’s beverage fountain machines. Students will compete for cash prizes and a trip to Philadelphia to attend WE16, the largest professional development and networking conference for women in engineering.
Last year’s competition resulted in a tie between two Oklahoma teams. Two women from Oklahoma State University designed a machine that could be made available in supermarkets to reuse and refill 2-Liter bottles. A team from the University of Oklahoma developed packaging made from biodegradable oats.
The submission deadline for this year’s competition is August 5, 2016. For more information about the PepsiCo/SWE Student Engineering Challenge, visit http://pepsicostudentchallenge.swe.org/. For more information about the Society of Women Engineers, visit www.swe.org.
