Sears recalls oscillating fan heaters

Sears Holdings of Hoffman Estates, IL is recalling more than 42,000 of its Kenmore-brand oscillating fan heaters manufactured in China.

Sears says that the recalled fan heaters include motor mounts that can break, causing the units to overheat, catch fire and ignite nearby items, thereby posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. Sears and Kmart have received seven reports of the fan heaters smoking of catching fire, including two separate reports of injuries to consumers.

The recalled fan heaters were sold at Sears and Kmart retail stores nationwide from September through November 2013 for between $35 and $40.
