Schurter’s New Compact SMD Fuse with Extended Currents

Schurter has expanded its successful UMF 250 SMD fuse series with nine additional rated currents. The extension completes the series with a total of fourteen rated currents, ranging from 500mA to 10A. The compact, quick-acting SMD fuse now provides over current and short circuit protection in primary and secondary circuits for an even wider range of applications.

The UMF 250 fuse is ideal for voltages up to 250 VAC and 125 VDC. It features a high breaking capacity of up to 200A at rated voltage. The 3 x 10.1 mm surface mount fuse is a compact SMD alternative to traditional 5×20 mm cartridge fuses. The location of the markings on the square shaped fuse displays important specifications such as approvals, current ratings and voltages.

The UMF 250 is suited for primary and secondary protection on SMD circuit boards. Applications of the device include, power supplies, medical and lighting equipment as well as electronic devices used in the home and in industry. The halogen-free fuse conforms to RoHS and is compatible with lead-free soldering processes. The UMF 250 has VDE and cURus approvals. It is internationally recognized according to the IEC 60127-4 standard as a universal modular fuse (UMF) link for use around the world.
