Ryobi battery pack recalled

Importer One World Technologies, Inc. of Anderson, SC has recalled about 54,200 Ryobi-brand lithium battery packs manufactured by Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd. of China.

One World says that the battery packs can overheat and burst while on a charger, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. The company has received four separate reports of battery packs overheating, resulting in minor property damage. However, there have been no reports of injuries associated with the recalled battery packs.

The battery packs were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide, online at Homedepot.com, and at other retailers from September 2012 through December 2012 for about $99. An additional 2200 battery packs were sold at Home Depot stores in Canada, and are subject to a separate product recall by Health Canada.
