Professor Dame Anne Dowling has been nominated and selected as the first female President of the Royal Academy of Engineers. Following the formal election process, her five year term will start in September 2014.
Professor Dowling focuses in combustion, acoustics and vibration. She was also the first female Professor in Cambridge’s Engineering Department. During her career, she also held visiting posts at MIT and Caltech and was the UK lead of the Silent Aircraft Initiative and a founder of the Energy Efficient Cities Initiative.
