Researchers at The University of New South Wales (UNSW) built a hydrogen fuel cell powered bicycle that provides electrical pedaling assistance to allow riders to travel up to 125 kilometers on a single battery charge.
The Hy-Cycle uses a 2.5-kilogram canister of hydrogen that feeds into a fuel cell under the bike seat to help the rider with pedaling. The fuel cell is continuously recharged with a Lithium-ion battery. The Hy-Cycle could provide a low-cost, sustainable method of transportation.
