Recent Standards Updates: Connectors, CPV Modules, Sensor Network Testing Framework

IEC 62827-3:2016:

wireless-power-rein-lab-6The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has released IEC 62827-3:2016 . This standard includes the Connectors for electronic equipment – Product requirements – Part 2-124: Detail specification for 10-way, shielded, free and fixed connectors for I/O and Gigabit transmission capability for industrial applications and is now available on the IEC webstore.

Description: “IEC 62827-3:2016 specifies methods and procedures to form groups for a spatial wireless power-transfer system. The group of spatial wireless power-transfer systems that include multiple power sources provides power transfer to receiving devices based on magnetic resonance technologyIn order to achieve efficient power transfer to multiple receiving devices, this document also specifies methods and procedures to set, share, and control the conditions of power transfer between multiple power sources and receiving devices.

A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part One

Solving Maxwell’s Equations for real-life situations, like predicting the RF emissions from a cell tower, requires more mathematical horsepower than any individual mind can muster. These equations don’t give the scientist or engineer just insight, they are literally the answer to everything RF.

IEC 62925:2016:

cpv%20dish-in-operationThe International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has released IEC 62925:2016 . This standard includes the Concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules – Thermal cycling test to differentiate increased thermal fatigue durability and is now available on the IEC webstore.

Description: “IEC 62925:2016 defines a test sequence that will quickly uncover CPV module failures that have been associated with field exposure to thermal cycling for many years. This document was specifically developed to relate to thermal fatigue failure of the HCPV die-attach, however, it also applies, to some extent, to all thermal fatigue related failure mechanisms for the assemblies submitted to test.”
