PVC Pipe Heater Short Circuit may cause Fire in MFTA Trucks

recalled truckMitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. (MFTA) is recalling 853 commercial trucks because a problem with the engine and engine cooling system poses a safety hazard. The affected vehicles are equipped with a defective cold weather PVC heater kit. It is possible that the heater’s wiring could chafe on a metal clamp, which in turn could lead to a short circuit that could catch fire. So far, MFTA is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or fires resulting from this defect.

The recall includes certain model year 2012-2016 FEC52, FEC72, FEC92 trucks and 2012-2015 FGB72 trucks. MFTA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the PVC pipe heater, free of charge.
